Victoria Melekian

Tuesday, Wednesday, Could Be Thursday

He contradicts me, says it was Tuesday
not Wednesday, a correction I don’t appreciate
in the middle of my story in the middle of a party,

and I have proof right here on my phone—I can
stop to show him his own email, and then we can
all watch his eyes scramble for someplace safe

to land, we could see his shoulders sag, his face
flush, and I’d be alone with my bucket of right,
so heavy, stinking like a stopped-up kitchen sink.
