David J. Kelly is an ecologist who works in Dublin, Ireland, where he finds scientific and artistic inspiration in the natural world. Born in Greater London in 1963, David rediscovered poetry in 2007. His knowledge of haiku blossomed when he joined the British Haiku Society in 2010 and Haiku Ireland in 2013. Since then he has been trying to gain a deeper understanding of haiku, tanka, haiga and haibun through reading and writing. He has had some success with this endeavour, with a number of haiku, tanka, haiga and haibun published in a range of journals.
